“The CFDA was founded in 1962 by Eleanor Lambert, a true force in the fashion world. In 2001, an award was created in her name to give special recognition to other industry influencers”. Robyn “Rihanna” Fenty has been recognized with the upmost rewarding style award presented by the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) Fashion Icon of the year. CFDA CEO Steven Kolb made a statement announcing the award, “We are proud to present Rihanna with the CFDA Fashion Icon Award for her impact on the industry as fashion’s most exciting ambassador in recent memory.” Past Fashion Icon award winners include Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Moss, Iman & Lady Gaga to name a few. Badgal RiRI is currently the face of Balmain spring 2014 campaign, and will receive her award on June 2nd, 2014 in fashion capital NYC at the Lincoln Center. Currently Diane von Furstenberg serves as the CFDA president and has held the position since 2006. Fashion killa RiRi has been the muse of Balmain designer Olivier Rousteing and Karl Lagerfeld of Chanel. Rihanna’s fashion success and growth in style would not be the same without her stylist Mel Ottenberg who has engineered most of the fashion icon looks, by fusing street style with couture.
RiRi states in her most recent Vogue issue: “It’s not all down to my voice. There are people with way more talent than I when it comes to singing. But people want to know who you are. Fashion is a clear indication, a way to express your attitude, your mood.” She identifies with dressing like her brother in earlier years, which reflects on her style of dress to this day by being able to rock whatever she desires. It is apparent that her style has evolved and will continue to get fine like wine as time passes.
Robyn’s beauty is undeniable, her voice is as sweet as sugar cane and her style is identifiable worldwide. The recording artist, Model, Fashion designer and fashion muse has been featured on three Vogue covers by the age of Twenty-six, and her style of dress is truly iconic. She has transformed right before our eyes and is letting the world know she was here with her unapologetic demeanor and sexy glare. There is nothing more enticing than watching a woman that creates a lane of her own through her bold wardrobe and style of dress. The Island beauty influential style represents her and is done in such an effortless way. Ri reminds me of Madonna with the way she has the world gasping and dying to get a glimpse of her fearless free spirit.
