It was netflix that introduced me to The New York Times Fashion Photographer Bill Cunningham, But it is his passing away that made me look deeper into his career & passion for riding his bicycle & capturing true street style on the streets of New York City.
I wonder to myself why my city doesn’t have a fashion photographer capturing those that walk the streets & deserve a little recognition for their fashion sense. When you appreciate fashion as art it’s a feeling that I can relate to. I am a advocate for street style because it is my reality, my girlfriends, coworkers and people that I see out are my muses and that is what Bill has been able to capture for years, no pressure what so ever, nothing to posey just everyday people. The beauty and rawness of Bill’s mind has been a staple in The New York Times for decades. He captured the woman or male that was their funky self heading out. Bill’s fun eye will be missed on the streets of New York, Rest in peace Bill.
“The best fashion show is definitely on the street. Always has been, and always will be.” -Bill Cunningham
