The now trending “DeleteUber” hashtag came about Saturday night after a tweet was released on Twitter stating that “Surge pricing has been turned off at #JFK Airport. This may result in longer wait times. Please be patient,” many protester saw this as a way to cut fares for drivers whom relinquished fares in order to join the protest. Uber made a statement on Sunday morning in an attempt to clear the air about any confusion the tweet might have caused stating that they “wanted people to know they could use Uber to get to and from JFK at normal prices, especially last night,”. Lyft announced Sunday morning that they were going to donate 1 million dollars to the American Civil Liberties Union whom is currently battling against Trumps travel ban, following the announcement Uber made a statement saying they planned to donate 3 million dollars to a legal fund for immigrant drivers and also asked Trump to lift the ban. The story is still developing as one of Ubers representative has a prescheduled meeting with Trump the coming Friday and pledges to bring up the matter, there is only one thing that we can all be sure of and that is the story is currently being updated as the hours go by and we can only hope for a positive outcome.
