WK: Marc Jacobs Romance With Hip-Hop

Last year Marc Jacobs shocked the fashion world by having his models grace the runway with faux-dreadlocks this year seems to be no different, the designer premiered his Fall/Winter 2017 collection this past Thursday during a New York Fashion Week show and did not try to hide the fact that the line was Hip-Hop inspired. Jacobs Fall collection features heavy gold chains, tracksuits and puffer jackets the models also wore oversized hats inspired by Andre 3000, the line is to be titled “Respect” showing homage to the culture that is Hip-Hop.

Jacobs received the idea from a documentary titled “Hip-Hop Evolution”, being an NYC native he was able to experience the evolution of Hip-Hop first hand but wanted to do more to show his understanding of the fashion and Hip-Hop connection, he states the line “is an acknowledgement and gesture of my respect for the polish and consideration applied to fashion from a generation that will forever be the foundation of youth culture street style.”

Seems like Hip-Hop is becoming a culture that everyone wants a piece of, checkout full footage of the Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter 2017 fashion show below.
